Exhausted from crossing the road, the animals decide to rest first. But soon they are rudely awakened by gunshots. Unbeknownst to them, they have taken refuge in an army compound! An explosion robs Pheasant of his tail feathers and the newts lose their lives in a terrible fire. Fox bravely rescues Toad from the flames, but Mole falls into the hands of the firemen. His escape lifts the spirits of the other animals again. Then a heavy downpour puts out the fire and they move on to the next stop on their journey.
