The fourth episode leads right through the heart of Rhenish industry. In the section between Cologne and Duisburg, the Rhine is a flowing "highway" for inland waterway vessels. The region was shaped by coal, steel and chemical parks, which were conveniently located directly on the river. Next to gigantic industrial plants lie the Rhine floodplains, a seemingly untouched natural idyll.
