24h Berlin is unique in the history of television: a 24-hour documentary told in real time, which went on air on September 5, 2009 from 6 am. 1440 minutes in one go - without interruption or commercial breaks - on rbb television, ARTE throughout Europe, the Dutch channel VPRO and the Finnish digital channel YLE Teema. 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, 24h Berlin documents a day in the life of the German capital. Exactly one year before the broadcast - on September 5, 2008 - 80 filming teams were on the road for 24 hours in all districts of Berlin. Under the overall artistic direction of Volker Heise, established directors such as Romuald Karmakar, Volker Koepp and Andres Veiel, as well as talented newcomers, filmed. They all filmed with protagonists and in milieus that were carefully researched over a period of twelve months. Around 400 people were part of the team on the day of filming.
